Kukicha is a japanese green tea made from the stems left-over from sencha production. This kukicha uses only high grade stems and a lot of leaf, resulting in a tea which, although naturally lower in caffeine, retains all of the beloved qualities of a Japanese green.

This organically-grown kukicha is made solely from first flush sencha stems by the Kinezuka family's organic cooperative in Fujieda, South Shizuoka. Fujieda is in the plain of the Ōi River delta, just inland from the Pacific coast, and extends into the mountainous region to the north. The Kinezukas are pioneers of organic tea farming in Japan and produce green and black teas which represent the pinnacle of Japanese organic tea.

The dry leaf aroma reminds us of nori and sweet bean paste and the brew is fresh, fragrant and sweet with significant umami. An incredibly drinkable tea - recommendable to green tea beginners and connoisseurs alike.
