This single cultivar Kamairicha is crafted from the Minekaori cultivar, which was elaborated specifically for the production of Kamairicha. ‘Minekaori’ translates to ‘mountain peak aroma’, a fitting name for this elegant, fresh and warming tea that grows on the mountainous tea fields of Gokase, approximately 600 meters above sea level.

Unlike the typical steaming process used for Senchas, Kamairicha is produced by heating the leaves in a pan. While this method is common in Chinese green tea production, it has become rare in Japan. The Japanese technique results in a unique comma-shaped leaf. Kamairicha is a traditional tea that has become rare to find because it is not produced often anymore. Originating from Southern Japan, Miyazaki prefecture is renowned as the premier region for this tea variety. It offers a delightful departure from the familiar Sencha, with a pleasant aroma reminiscent of roasted chestnuts. This Kamairicha is very pleasant and interesting, it withstands many steepings.

The flavour profile is warm and buttery sweet with hints of roasted chestnuts and fresh umami. This is a full-bodied, long lasting tea, very pleasant to drink.
