Kamairicha Yamatomidori - Green Tea, Japan

Generally, Japanese green teas are usually steamed. But Kamairicha is a pan-fried green tea, a processing method that is said to have been used by Korean tea masters originally, it is still used today on the Island of Kyushu (close to Korea).

This tea has the wonderful combination of umami, sweetness, subtle baking, and light creamy, milky notes. Fresh yet comforting, warming.

Yamatomidori is one of the oldest Japanese cultivars, and has become rare to find nowadays. The leaves for this tea have grown at 1500m altitude, overlooking the active volcano Aso, in a garden that has been run as organic already since 1983. They have been processed using above mentioned traditional methods.

All of these details give this tea its unique aroma and make drinking it such a delight.
